🎨 Teens Art Class (Ages 13–17)

Our Teens program is designed for young artists who are ready to explore advanced techniques, develop their personal style, and create meaningful artwork with guidance and freedom. Teens are at a stage where creativity becomes identity — and we help them grow their skills, voice, and confidence in a supportive studio environment.

Art at this level strengthens higher-level problem-solving, technical refinement, decision-making, self-expression, and portfolio-building skills. Teens learn to think like artists: planning, revising, experimenting, and committing to their ideas with intention.

🌈 What We Do in Class

Each class includes:

• Multi-step projects that build technique and creative confidence

• Instruction in drawing foundations, color theory, blending, shading, proportion, composition, and mixed media skills

• Work with a wide range of materials such as acrylics, watercolor, ink, charcoal, graphite, clay, markers, pastels, and collage

• Opportunities to explore personal interests, themes, and styles

• A choice-based final project where students create an artwork completely aligned with their creative vision

Projects may include painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, illustration, mixed media, and conceptual or themed artwork.

This age group is developing:

• Advanced technical skill and refinement

• Creative independence and artistic decision-making

• Resilience through revision, troubleshooting, and problem-solving

• Identity expression through personal style and theme exploration

• Focus and follow-through on longer, more complex projects

• Confidence in sharing and discussing their artwork

We support these skills through structured instruction blended with meaningful choice and artistic freedom.

👋 Participation & Drop-Off

Teens thrive when they can:

• Participate for the full 60-minute class

• Follow multi-step processes independently

• Communicate their ideas, needs, or questions

• Take creative ownership of their projects

Parents are encouraged to drop off. If staying in the studio, please note that our small space amplifies sound and can make instruction difficult.

No Class: March 17 (Spring Break)

Make-Up Class: Monday, April 21
End-of-Semester Teen Art Show: Wednesday, May 6

(Each class will have work featured — all families are invited.)
