🎨 3D Sculpture & Clay Class (Ages 8–14)

Our 3D Sculpture & Clay class is perfect for artists who love building, creating, and bringing their ideas to life in three dimensions. Students will explore sculptural techniques using air-dry clay, armature building, wire, papier-mâché, mixed media, and textural tools — all while learning foundational skills that strengthen creativity, planning, and fine motor development.

This class encourages problem-solving, patience, imaginative thinking, and artistic independence. Whether your artist is brand-new to sculpture or already loves working with their hands, this class is designed to challenge and inspire.

🌈 What We Do in Class

Each class includes:

• Hands-on instruction in 3D building and sculpting techniques

• Clay work using air-dry clay, modeling tools, and texture techniques

• Armature building (wire, foil, cardboard structure)

• Mixed-media sculpture, papier-mâché, and additive/subtractive methods

• Projects that explore shape, form, texture, balance, and structure

• Guided instruction + creative freedom so artists can express their own style

Projects may span multiple weeks depending on the complexity and student direction.

This age group is developing:

• Fine motor strength and hand-eye coordination

• Spatial reasoning and 3D problem-solving

• Patience, focus, and perseverance on longer projects

• Planning and executing multi-step creative tasks

• Creative independence and decision-making

• Confidence through tactile, hands-on creation

Sculpture is especially valuable for kinesthetic learners or students who thrive when creating with their hands.

👋 Participation & Drop-Off

Artists do best when they can:

• Participate for the full 60-minute class

• Follow multi-step instructions

• Work independently with guided support

• Communicate needs or ask for help

Parents are encouraged to drop off.
If staying, please note our small space amplifies sound, which can make instruction difficult.

Meets Wednesdays at 6:15–7:15pm:
Jan 21, 28 | Feb 4, 11, 18, 25 | Mar 4, 11, 25 | Apr 1, 8, 15

No Class: March 18 (Spring Break Week)

Make-Up Class: Wednesday, April 22
End-of-Semester Art Show: Wednesday, May 6
(Students will have sculptural work featured — families encouraged to attend!)
